Oleg Ponomarev

51 years old. Has higher military engineering education. In 1981 graduated from Zhukovsky Air Force Engineering Academy. Has 20 years experience in aviation industry. Head of KVAND since 1998.

Oleg Ponomarev was born in the Russian town of Perm. During his school years he already dreamed of aviation but failed his medical test when trying to enter the flight school.

In 1969 Oleg entered the technical aviation school in Perm, and in 1972 graduated from it with honours.

In 1972-1977 Oleg served in the Air Force at various commanding positions.

In 1981 he graduated from the Zhukovsky Air Force Engineering Academy and was referred to the Military Hardware Testing Institute in Astrakhan and later transferred to the Military Research Institute. There Mr. Ponomarev was engaged in scientific work and wrote scientific papers on extending the service time of aviation equipment.

In 1989 Oleg Ponomarev began to work in the Aircraft Orders Department at the Air Force where he supervised the development, testing and production implementation of aircraft hardware. He worked in close cooperation with aircraft development laboratories, enterprises and Ministries for aviation industry in one team with the famous pilots and cosmonauts Shonin and Popov.

In 1993 he resigned from the Air Force further working as consultant in various air companies.

In 1998 Oleg Ponomarev became KVAND's CEO, and since 2002 has served as Chairman of the Board of Directors.
